An exclusive, customized French Adventure that brings you closer to the enchanting local culture, nature, cuisine and traditional wines of the unique regions of Alsace, Burgundy, and Provence. Get your walking shoes on because you will explore the small villages around Strasbourg and Strasbourg itself, experience an award winning Alsatian wine producer with tasting in the vineyards, enjoy nature walks guided by a local expert with lunch at an authentic country French restaurant, truffle hunt with trained truffle dogs in Dijon, gastronomy walking tour in the heart of Burgundy, gourmet meals, explore the hidden corridors of Lyon, see Lyon’s artists implementing ancestral hand painted techniques on silk, see France’s oldest Roman ruins, enjoy the breathtaking lavender fields of Provence and much, much more. This adventure is a real treat!


Day 1: Arrival and Welcome Reception
france-iti-day1 Arrive into Colmar, Your adventure starts in the lovely and charming town of Colmar, with its small streets, colorful houses, and canals. After checking into your hotel enjoy free time exploring. Your welcome dinner will be held at the historical brasserie of La Maison des Têtes that evening.
Day 2: Alsacian day with a sommelier and Strasbourg
france-iti-day1 An Alsacian day at an award-winning winery and Strasbourg in the evening. Your guide will guide us thru small pathways and vineyards to one of Alsace’s famous wineries, established in 1610. You will enjoy a behind the scenes look at winemaking and enjoy a delicious picnic in the vineyard. After our delectable meal, we’re off to Strasbourg to tour the town and enjoy dinner at an authentic restaurant.
Day 3: Off to Burgundy for truffle hunting & opulent culture
france-iti-day1 We’re off to Burgundy! You will visit the world-renowned village Vosne Romanée, hunt for truffles with trained truffle dogs, and reap the rewards of your efforts with a wine and truffle tasting! Next you will head to Dijon for an exclusive visit of some of the “Hotels Particuliers” which are generally closed to the public. You will learn about the famous families and history of the town. Dinner that evening will be in the city of Dijon.
Day 4: A day in Beaune
france-iti-day1 The following morning you will head to Beaune, the capital of Burgundy wines. There you will visit the home of the world-famous auction house. You will enjoy some free time to explore the town of Beaune and meet up in the early evening for a gastronomy walking tour. Marvel at the old town, cheese and wine tasting in a traditional Hess fromagerie, and we’ll be sure not to miss the delicious treats of this region; black currant liqueur, fine mustard, and cakes sweetened with honey.
Day 5: NATURE walk and wine tasting IN BURGUNDY
france-iti-day1 Awaken to beautiful Beaune, the heart of Burgundy. Our expert for the day will take us on a nature hike through different villages, stopping for wine tastings along the way, and enjoying lunch at a local country restaurant. On this walk, you may take in the beautiful ancient homes, castles, and vaults. A chance to immerse yourself in the French countryside way of life.
Day 6: Visit of Pérouges and Lyon
france-iti-day1 On your way to Lyon you will enjoy a stop at the impressive medieval city of Pérouges where we will explore the ancient streets and shops. You will be amazed by the ancient architecture. Be sure to have their specialty, a sugar tart! We’ll make Lyon our home for the night and enjoy a dinner in a traditional “bouchon Lyonnais”.
Day 7: A day exploring Lyon’s Roman ruins, traboules and silk workshops
france-iti-day1Today you will explore Lyon with our expert guide. We’ll walk the city and visit the Fourviére Basilique church, and the impressive Roman ruins complete with France’s oldest theater, the Gallo-roman Theater from the 2nd Century. Your expert guide will guide us on a walk through Lyon’s famous traboules in Croix-Rousse district: behind inconspicuous doors we will find kilometers of corridors and stairs, connecting buildings to each other. We’ll visit Lyon’s silk workshop and discover the ancestral techniques used by the silk workers, and their hand-painting of silk. A unique savoir-faire!
Day 8: Avignon, in the heart of Provence
france-iti-day1 Today your driver will take us to Avignon in the heart of breathtaking Provence. You will explore the town of Avignon, see the Pope’s Bridge and walk the ancient streets. We will dine at a local restaurant and experience the delicious Provencal cuisine.
Day 9: A day in Provence and picnic in lavender fields
france-iti-day1 After a great night sleep, you will meet up with our Provence expert. Together, we will discover the spirit of Provence as we explore beautiful and small rocky Provencal villages. You will breathe in the magic of Provence and its vineyards, olive trees, lavender fields, aromas, and colors. You will picnic with fresh and local foods in the heart of the lavender fields. A truly exceptional experience! In the evening we will have our farewell provencal dinner.
Day 10: Farewell
france-iti-day1Parting is such sweet sorrow, but today is farewell and you can head home with a carry-on bag full of memories! Thank you for joining us! We love traveling with you!

What's included?

Making sure your adventure with us is relaxing and wonderful, we've included the following:

  • Welcome dinner reception at your hotel located in the charming center of Colmar, France, and welcome gift.
  • Accommodations for 9 nights, all 4 to 5 star hotels.
  • Private mini-coach and driver, chaperoned by UnTour.Cool’s owner Katy Bendel Daniels, water and snacks available onboard.
  • All breakfasts, 4 Lunches, and 9 Dinners; some of these meals are some of type of gastronomy delight. We like to keep it fun and delicious.
  • You’ll receive at minimum two full meals per day. In some cases three meals depending on the travel schedule. We have learned from previous guests that three meals per day, every day, was just too much food. We’ve included more experiences and in general breakfast and dinner.
  • Group lunches and dinners include 1 glass of wine per person … sometimes more. Each person is responsible for their drinks beyond what is host provided.
  • Lots of walking so you’re ready to enjoy that next delectable feast.
  • Entrance fees.
  • Local expert for guided experiences.

This is an active tour with lots of walking. Expect lots of walking through old villages, castles, vineyards, pathways, cellars, and churches. All walks are easy to moderate. Weather permitting some lunches and wine tastings will take place in the vineyard or lavender fields. Oh yes, and truffle hunting will be outdoors with the truffle dogs.

Logistics

The UnTour.Cool adventure will begin in Colmar, France and end in Avignon, France. Guests may contact us to arrange flights or make their own flight arrangements.

Please note: Airfare from the US is not included in the price.


Travel Insurance

We highly recommend purchasing Travel Insurance to cover any losses you might incur if you have to abruptly leave the adventure or cancel after the allowed cancellation date. We can provide travel insurance options upon request.

Cancellation Policy

Company Cancellation:

UnTour.Cool, Inc. reserves the right to cancel an adventure. We will notify guests who have placed deposits when the adventure is confirmed and it is time to purchase airline tickets. In the unlikely situation of a cancelled adventure due to not enough guests, you will receive a complete refund of your adventure deposit and, if any, full payment. UnTour.Cool, Inc. will not assume any other liability and is not responsible for any personal expenses as a result of an adventure cancellation, such as airline tickets or personal hotel reservations.

Guest Cancellation:

  • Deposit is nonrefundable.
  • If you have made a full payment and cancel after January 1, 2020, you will be refunded only 3% of your final payment. Any cancellations after March 1,2020, cannot be refunded due to the fact pre-payments have already been made to suppliers.
  • Final payments are to be posted by January 30, 2020.
  • The strict cancellation policy is due to down payments and monies already spent to reserve services for this adventure. Small group travel requires a minimum number of attendees to ensure costs are covered.
